Tiger Woods will be looking for a better result this time around than he had at his last major.
The 124th U.S. Open golf championship begins Thursday at Pinehurst Resort, and the 15-time major champion is among the field of 156 players for golf's third major of the season.
Woods is scheduled to tee off with Will Zalatoris and Matt Fitzpatrick at 7:29 a.m. on Thursday, starting on No. 10. The group has a 1:14 p.m. tee time Friday, starting on No. 1.
Players use split tees for the opening two rounds of the U.S. Open, with half the field beginning on hole No. 1 and half the field beginning on hole No. 10.
Woods didn't make it to the weekend in his previous major. After following an opening round 1-over-72 with a six-over 77, he failed to make the cut at the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, as Xander Schauffele won his first major championship.
In the two times Woods has played in a U.S Open at Pinehurst, he finished tied for third in 1999 and was second in 2005.
