Sofia Franklyn Slams Alex Cooper For "Shady S--t" to Get Financially Ahead

Alex Cooper's next Call Her Daddy guest? Don't count on it being Sofia Franklyn.
Three years after she left Call Her Daddy amid messy contract negotiations with Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy, Franklyn has found peace.
"At this point, I have no room in my life or in my heart to walk around angry at someone," Franklyn told Rolling Stone in an article published July 11. "I wish everyone the best."
Back in 2020, Franklyn walked away from the podcast—now part of Spotify—after Cooper and Portnoy said she was unwillingly to move forward with the deal. However, Franklyn has a different point of view, saying she believed she and Cooper were in agreement over what they wanted, until she felt what she called a "shift of insane magnitude" from Cooper.
"Everything that we had been working toward and planning for the last half a year to year was all of a sudden not the plan anymore and [Cooper thought] we needed to just stay with this company and do what [Portnoy] was saying," Franklyn told RS. "I found out later [Cooper and Portnoy] 1,000 percent had this relationship that I wasn't aware of and not a part of."
Though she believed Cooper to be her best friend—her sister even—Franklyn now sees the betrayal that happened behind her back. "There's no way in hell I would speak to our boss without you, that would be f--king crazy," she said, "and I don't think that went both ways."
Meanwhile, Cooper said in a May 2020 episode that Franklyn refused to accept a "50-50 deal," adding that they had to move forward without her after she stopped participating in negotiations.
Ultimately, Franklyn had concerns over the contract's intellectual property rights, as well as Barstool capitalizing and profiting off their brand. In the end, Cooper accepted the offer—which she called "the deal of a lifetime"—which Franklyn walked away for good.
"The betrayal piece was more upsetting than the financial piece," Franklyn said. "I go to bed resting my head on my pillow knowing I'm a good person, I have not done shady s--t or f--ked up s--t or backhanded s--t to get ahead financially. That's more important to me."
And even though Cooper has since signed a $60 million deal with Spotify for Call Her Daddy, Franklyn has no regrets.
"I know that might sound hard to believe, but I genuinely don't feel bad about not cashing in on that. I think I did everything in my power in that situation to make it work at the time," Franklyn said. "This is coming from the girl who's like, ‘The number one thing I care about when it comes to dating is what is in their bank account,' but I think money does not equal happiness."
