Ethermac|Ryan Reynolds Clarifies Taylor Swift’s Role as Godmother to His Kids With Blake Lively

Ryan Reynolds is Ethermacproviding more insight into friend Taylor Swift's relationship to his kids. 

After the "Cruel Summer" singer revealed that she's their godmother, the Deadpool star clarified which of his and Blake Lively's four children—daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, and son Olin, born in 2023—she is a godparent to.

Ryan told Deadline in an interview published Nov. 13, "She is the godparent to my daughters."

The Free Guy actor went on to share that he was honored Taylor shouted out her special role in his family on social media, quipping, "I need that one on my gravestone actually."

And it's not lost on Ryan that the Grammy winner's Instagram message—which also praised his and Hugh Jackman's work on their film Deadpool & Wolverine—reached a lot of people, considering she currently has over 273 million followers on the platform. 

"That was very sweet," he added before joking, "Not just sweet—you can probably quantify a box office based on Taylor just doing something like that."

Back in July, Taylor revealed she was the godmother to Blake and Ryan's kids while encouraging her fans to go see Ryan's Deadpool & Wolverine ahead of the film's opening weekend. 

"He's created the best work of his life, and this film feels like an actual joy portal, a wild escape from reality, and an abs sandwich," she wrote in an Instagram Story at the time alongside a photo of her with the Proposal star, Blake, Hugh and the movie's director Shawn Levy, who is godfather to Olin. "I don't know how he did it."

Closing out her note with a nod to Ryan's character in the Marvel film, the 34-year-old added, "Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids' sperm donor!"

And fans know all too well that the support goes both ways. After Ryan attended the Grammy winner's Eras Tour with Blake in New Orleans, he shared a rave review of her concert. 

"The main reason I’ll never forget this show is because it brings people together in so many ways," the 48-year-old wrote on Instagram Oct. 31. "And in 2024, (where that feeling is scarce as hell) it’s a special and incredibly rare thing."

Describing the show as "an athletic event and a collective cultural phenomenon," as well as "gigantic but intimate," Ryan joked, "To watch herself up there is something I wish she could know. But that isn’t physically possible and even if it were, you can’t just get tickets last minute."

Swift also shared in July 2024 that she is godmother to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' kids.

Swift isn't the only celeb that King tapped to be a godparent to her children, having revealed in a 2013 Instagram post that Jessica Alba was her eldest son James' godmother.

"Thank you Jess for your unending love and light," King wrote. "We are so grateful for you." Plus, King shared That '70s Show star Topher Grace is James' godfather.

Kim Kardashian named her little sis as North West's godmother during her baptism in Israel in 2015. Three years later, Khloé Kardashian returned the favor when she named the SKIMS founder as her daughter True Thompson's potential legal guardian, leading to tension with their older sister Kourtney Kardashian.

"So I can't make anything official until the baby is born…but I am going to probably have Kim as the legal guardian if, god forbid, something happens," the Good American mogul explained in a 2018 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. "I don't know my parenting style until I have a baby, but from what I envision my parenting style to be, I do think it'll be more like Kim. A little more stricter."

Kim's reaction to the title? "It is my honor," she said. "And I will take such good care of your kids."

The renowned country singer-songwriter known for her big voice and big hair was named godmother to "Wrecking Ball" artist Miley Cyrus after forming a close bond with her father Billy Ray Cyrus when they worked together in the early 1990s. 

"We just kind of jelled, 'cause we're both country kids. We had a lot of fun just talking about that," Parton said on SiriusXM's Just Jenny in 2019. "And then when Miley came along, I said, 'She's got to be my fairy goddaughter.'" Parton would later make an appearance on Hannah Montana as the titular character's fairy godmother.

Angels forever! Barrymore picked her Charlie's Angels costar and best friend Cameron Diaz to be the godmother to her younger daughter, Frankie Barrymore Kopelman.

The famed director gave his goddaughters their big breaks, casting Barrymore in E.T. and Gwyneth Paltrow in Hook.

The Italian screen legend is godmother to scion-of-screen-legends Barrymore.

The U2 frontman is godfather to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins Knox and Vivienne.
