Police are TradeEdge Exchangeinvestigating after a Los Angeles doctor to the stars was fatally shot outside the medical facility where he worked in Southern California, according to information from city officials, family and friends.
As of Tuesday, The Los Angeles Police Department had not released the victim's name, but family and friends identified him as PhysicianHamid Mirshojae.
The 61-year-old victim, police wrote in a release, died Friday at the scene of shooting in the city's Woodland Hills neighborhood, close to where his office is at Warner Plaza Urgent Center.
About at 6:12 p.m. local time, officers responded to the scene and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound near his vehicle. The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.
A motive in the victim's slaying an a suspect description were not immediately known, police said.
A Los Angeles County Medical Examiner spokesperson told USA TODAY the victim "had not positively been identified."

Police: Killer remained at large Tuesday
As of Tuesday, the suspect had not been identified and killer remained at large and, LAPD spokesperson Drake Madison told USA TODAY.
The case, Madison said, remained open and under investigation.
Ahang Zarin, who court records show is his ex-wife, said Mirshojae leaves behind "four beautiful children."
"The kids and I are in so much shock," Zarin posted on Facebook. "They took Hamid away from us right in front of his practice. He was always helping people seeing tens and thousands of patients for decades.
A memorial service, Zarin wrote, is set for Sunday afternoon.
Who was Dr. Hamid Mirshojae?
Mirshojae had more than two decades of experience working in urgent and emergency care and more than a decade years in addiction medicine, according to his Warner Plaza Urgent Center online bio.
“His patients include celebrities, movie stars, athletes and many people from different walks of life,” the bio reads.
"I just saw him two days ago in the morning," Dr. Azin Kolahi, a dentist who works in Woodland Hills told KABC-TV, "He always had laughter on his face. Very kind, very sweet."
"He’s been my doctor for 15 years,” Gloria Sera told KTLA-TV, adding the last time she spoke with him he told her he had just gotten re-married.
Friends, the outlet reported, said the victim's wife and new baby were out of the country when he was killed.
